In reading, students learned to identify and distinguish between information provided by the pictures in a text versus the words in a text. Students practiced this skill by reading Cats and Things Change. Students completed an assessment after reading The Forest Roof in Time for Kids.

In writer's workshop, students continued to compose and edit their Magic Tree House stories. A few students shared their stories with the class during Stars and Wishes.

In science, students studied properties of liquids. Students examined samples of water, oil, glue, and shampoo. Students tested whether these samples were fluid or viscous, and also how each sample mixed with water. Next week we will celebrate the end of our unit on the states of matter by making purple cows!

In math, students continued to use different strategies when adding 9 and one other number. Students used blank 10 frames, created number bonds, and split an addend to create a 10.

Kennedy was our Can-Do Kid this week! We loved learning all the things Kennedy can do. She loves to dance, and her favorite food is pizza. She also loves reading and her favorite book is I Hate My Bow!

On Friday, Mrs. Diehl came to the class to help us blog! Students learned how to type the address of our blog site and also how to log in to their blog. In our next blogging session we will work on composing a blog using the computer.
