In reading, students learned how to determine the author's purpose for writing. Students practiced this skill after reading George Washington's Teeth and Animals on the Move. Students then completed an assessment after reading What Does the President Do? on Bookflix. Students also drew the beginning, middle, and end of our oral vocabulary story A Taste of Salt.

In math, students learned how to make a ten in an equation with a 9 as one addend ( 9+3 = 12 is the same as 10+2 = 12). Students practiced this skill by using cubes to illustrate their thinking and writing equations on a whiteboard.

In Writer's Workshop, students used the Magic Treehouse series as inspiration for their own mystery story. Students then shared their writing during stars and wishes!

In centers, students reviewed adding 3 numbers together by playing Super Scoopers! Students also wrote about what they would do if they lost their teeth like George Washington, and matched "ee" and "ea" homophones.

In science, students tested solids with a magnet and also examined the properties of two new solids: a button and a sponge!

For Fun Friday, students learned all about blogging! Mrs. Diehl will be visiting our class every Friday through the end of the year to teach students about blogging, audience, commenting, and internet safety.
